The $1.50 Dollar Tree Find So Useful, I Bought 4

Goodbye, clutter!

Life in our house moves at a pretty fast pace. There's always a permission slip to sign, a homework assignment to review, and random coupons and free entry passes our kids receive at school for events and local takeout restaurants.

All of these inevitably end up in a disorganized pile on the kitchen table. It's a space intended for eating and gathering, but it often turns into a chaotic catch-all for clutter. I've tried various baskets and bins, but none have solved the problem without creating an eyesore or making the space feel even more cluttered.

That all changed when I recently found these small desktop organizers with drawers at Dollar Tree. The label said it was for office supplies, but my brain immediately started buzzing with ideas for how to use it in my home. I knew this was the solution I had been searching for, so I did what any good shopper would do: I bought four.

Dollar Tree Essentials Clear Plastic Desktop Organizer Drawers

  • Price: $1.50 for one container
  • Why I Love It: These compact organizers are great for organizing items beyond the office. I use them in my kitchen and laundry room to corral paperwork and sort clutter.

Why I Love Dollar Tree's Essentials Desktop Organizer Drawers

While these drawers are technically for a desk, I'm confident that their true calling is in creating a "command center" on the side of my fridge. The refrigerator is the heart of our kitchen, and this simple hack has completely transformed it into a functional, organized hub.

It just took a bit of fanangling: I removed the drawer from its casing (then tossed the casing), attached a strong magnet to the back, and placed it upright on the side of the fridge. It's such a simple trick, but it gives me vertical storage anywhere I have a metal surface.

One holds chalk markers and Sharpies, which are perfect for labeling leftovers and containers. Another holds important papers that would otherwise get lost. I even keep one of our favorite takeout menus in it, so we can quickly grab it without having to sort through a junk drawer or pull out our phones.

I love that they're compact enough to fit into tighter spots easily. As long as you've got a solid magnet, they're also sturdy enough to hold a variety of items. And at $1.50 apiece, they're cheap! So you can buy as many as you need without a second thought.

Outside of my kitchen, one has also helped me tackle my tiny, closet-sized laundry room. I stuck two drawers to the side of the dryer to hold dryer sheets and collect lint from the trap. It's been life-changing for keeping everything tidy and within arm's reach.

For $6 total and a bit of handiwork, I've turned two problem areas in my home from chaotic to functional. On the surface, they're small plastic boxes, but for me, they're a real solution I'd go back to again and again.
