The 96-Cent Costco Find I Buy Once a Week

So delicious, they never last long in my house.

I became a Costco convert after my family moved to a house just 10 minutes away from the store. My mom, a longtime regular, has become one of my Costco mentors. She recently recommended the Aidells Chicken & Apple Smoked Sausages. I tried them and now they're one of our Costco must-haves.

Costco Aidells All Natural Chicken & Apple Smoked Chicken Sausages

  • Price: $14.49 for a three-pound package (that’s 96 cents a sausage!)
  • Why I Love It: These sausages are affordable, versatile, and delicious. I love the sweet-savory flavor with a hint of smoke, plus how easy they are to reheat for a variety of meals.

Why I Love Aidells All Natural Chicken & Apple Smoked Chicken Sausages

The first thing I love about the Aidells chicken sausages is that a package of 15 large chicken sausages costs only $14.49. At 97 cents each, they're a great deal at Costco. They come in three packs, each containing five sausages, making it easy to cook one pack at a time, not that they last long in my household.

We went through all three packages in less than a week after I made my Costco run. And by "we," I mostly mean my 15-year-old son. He ate an entire pack of five one morning for breakfast. It was an easy breakfast for him to make since the sausages were pre-cooked. He reheated them in the microwave.

Even if you're not a teenage athlete clocking 14 hours of volleyball and a few more of diving a week, it's still hard to stop at one. Each four-ounce sausage is filling, but they're so delicious (savory yet sweet with a hint of smoke) and plump and juicy. The sausages are made with just chicken, dried apples, and seasonings, packed into a natural pork casing.

How I Use Costco's Aidells All-Natural Chicken & Apple Smoked Chicken Sausages

I like slicing them up and eating them on a bagel and egg sandwich. My husband prefers eating them on hot dog buns for lunch. My son, of course, enjoys them practically right out of the package, dipping them in maple syrup, as he runs out the door to practice.

The sausages are also perfect for adding to casseroles, especially for breakfast with eggs, veggies, and cheese. They would also be good in soups. Once the weather cools down in the fall, I'll add them to leek and potato soup or to bulk up vegetable soups. And, of course, the links will be a great addition to red beans and rice.

While the nice weather lasts, though, I want to give grilling them a try. That is, if a package I purchased on Monday would last until the weekend.
