If you’re a potato lover like me, you know not all spuds are created equal, especially when it comes to size. I reserve large potatoes for classic dishes like mashed potatoes or fries. The larger size makes them easier to peel and great for feeding a crowd.

But when it comes to flavor and convenience for a household of one, or two if I have my partner over, I always reach for the little guys.

Smaller potatoes—about an inch to an inch and a half in diameter—are my favorite. They roast quickly, don’t need chopping, and hold their shape beautifully. I also find that they’re more flavorful, with a better skin-to-flesh ratio. They’re ideal for quick dinners or when you want a side dish that doesn’t take up your whole evening.

These little guys come pre-seasoned, ready-to-roast, and are ideal for busy weeknights, especially if you’re cooking for one or two. No more committing to a bulky five-pound bag of potatoes that will probably sprout before you can use them all up, especially in the hot, sweltering summer.

Each package includes about 15 petite potatoes, just enough for a few servings without waste or leftovers.

The moment I opened it, a wave of Italian herbs and Parmesan aroma hit me. For a frozen product, the aroma alone was a pleasant surprise, and after tasting it, the flavor matches that intensity.

The Best Way To Make the Potatoes

I decided to test them two ways—half went into the oven, and the other half into the air fryer. Both batches turned out golden brown with crisp, delicate skins and fluffy, creamy centers. The Parmesan flavor came through with a savory, umami punch, and the herb seasoning was bold and confident without being overpowering. Though you can’t really see the Parmesan cheese, you can definitely taste it. These little potatoes are seasoned to perfection, all the way to the center. 

Between the two methods, the air fryer won me over. It cut the cook time in half and didn’t require a long preheating session since it was a much smaller area to preheat. On busy evenings, that’s a game-changer since every minute counts. 

All the spuds are already prepped, so there’s no chopping, peeling, or seasoning required. No additional oil or salt is needed either. Just toss them into the oven or air fryer, and you’ve got a side dish ready to go. I like pairing these potatoes with a simple protein like roasted salmon or pan-seared steak since these potatoes are the perfect supporting cast—good enough to stand by themselves, but best when served to highlight the center of the plate.  

While these potatoes are nearly perfect, I do like to finish them with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a pop of color. The golden-brown skin is delicious, but it can look a little plain on the plate. A touch of green makes the whole dish feel more vibrant and appealing—and no one would ever know that it was even frozen.
