Although I’m still sipping on iced coffee in 86°F sunshine, summer is winding down. My weekdays have become packed again with deadlines, client calls, and family logistics, which means that making myself a nutritious, filling lunch has quickly fallen to the very bottom of my priority list.

More often than I’d like, I find myself grabbing my phone mid-meeting at 11:45 a.m. to scroll through a delivery app. Within seconds, I’ve tapped into one of my favorite spots and ordered yet another $20 salad. Add in a seven-dollar delivery fee, tax, and tip, and suddenly I’ve spent nearly $40 on what amounts to a bowl of lettuce and grilled chicken. Delicious, sure, but not exactly financially sustainable.

While wandering the aisles at Walmart the other day, I spotted bettergoods Moroccan Tuna Bulgur Wheat Salad Bowls that looked just as good as my go-to delivery meal, minus the eye-watering price tag. Packed with tuna, bulgur, buckwheat, chickpeas, and veggies, it’s basically everything I’d order at a salad shop—but for just $3.

Why I Love Walmart bettergoods Moroccan Tuna Bulgur Wheat Salad Bowl

Made with sustainably-caught tuna, bulgur, navy beans, carrots, olives, and a simple olive oil and lemon juice vinaigrette, this salad feels both homemade and a little special. The mix is hearty enough to fill me up, but it still feels light and balanced.

The single-use containers even come with a spork, which is perfect for days when I’m on the go. No prep, no heating—just peel and eat. I’ve eaten them in the car between errands, at my desk while answering emails, and even stashed a few away for camping trips or busy nights when cooking just isn’t happening. It’s one of those rare pantry finds that tastes fresh while still being practical.

How I Jazz Up Walmart bettergoods Moroccan Tuna Bulgur Wheat Salad Bowl

It’s excellent as is, but when I’m home, I can’t resist adding my own touch. Call it the food writer in me:

  • Add a little heat: a sprinkle of cayenne, taco seasoning, or a splash of hot sauce
  • Add creaminess: half an avocado or a dollop of mayo
  • Add crunch: cucumber, iceberg lettuce, or crushed pita chips on top
  • Add brightness: a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, or a handful of fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro

Whether I’m eating straight from the container or zhuzhing it up with a few extras, these bowls have officially earned their place in my pantry. Affordable, filling, and surprisingly fresh-tasting—this is one shortcut I’ll be leaning on well past summer.
